Substitutes play an important role in CBISD’s ongoing efforts to provide an educational system that allows all students to reach their full potential, delivering quality instruction to students and promoting student-centered learning environments during the absence of their teachers. OUR SUBSTITUTE SELECTION PROCESS

The requirements to become a substitute teacher with CBISD are listed below.

A High School Diploma plus one or more of the following:

• 30 or more college hours (transcript required)
• Current Texas Teaching Certification**
• Have had been a Highly Qualified Instructional Assistant within the past 3 years at CBISD**
• Have been a Substitute Teacher within the past 3 years at CBISD**

We have outlined the application and selection process below:

Applying

• Complete an application online and include phone numbers and email addresses for two (2) supervisory references. Your references must be individuals who have supervised or managed your  work in past positions.
• Upload your Official Transcripts OR Valid Texas Teacher Certification(s) (If applicable)
• Check your email for your 'Application Received' Confirmation Email

Communication

• Monitor your email for Communications from the HR office, as staff will contact you directly to schedule an appointment.
• You will be contacted by Human Resources, should you be required to complete fingerprints please follow the instructions in the fingerprinting email.

Onboarding

• Receive your Initial Job Offer Phone Call
• Complete your New Hire Tasks Online
• Attend your New Substitute Orientation and Receive your Employee ID Badge

ALL CURRENT AND NEW SUBSTITUTES WILL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE SAFE SCHOOLS TRAINING, REVIEW SUB HANDBOOK AND A SAFETY PRESENTATION BEFORE THEY WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO SUBSITUTE TEACH.
