Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Assessment Notification
The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) currently authorized as No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requires school districts to ensure that paraprofessionals assisting in instruction and employed in programs supported with Title I, Part A funds meet the qualification requirements outlined below.
* Have completed 48 semester hours of college coursework; or
* Have obtained an Associate's (or higher) degree; or
* Have met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment:
-Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics; or
-Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading readiness, writing readiness
and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.
If you have not completed 48 college hours or earned an Associate's degree or higher, you can become recognized as a Highly Qualified Paraprofessional by Columbia-Brazoria ISD by mastering the CBISD HQ Paraprofessional Assessment. The next CBISD HQ Paraprofessional Assessment is scheduled for January 28, 2019 from 9:00 am-11:00 am at Central Administration. The CBISD HQ Paraprofessional Assessment is by appointment only and individuals can register to take the test by clicking here.
