Dear Parents,
Welcome students and parents to the
2009-2010 school year. The first day
of school is always a favorite time
of year. Teachers are smiling and
optimistic about the new year. In
return, students are anticipating
success with great teachers. I am
confident that this will be an
awesome year at West Brazos Junior
High.
West Brazos Junior High is a
“Recognized” campus. This was
accomplished in part by creative and
caring teachers who excel at what
they do best—TEACH! Our students
stepped up and listened to teachers’
strategies and subject information
and then applied this to their test
taking skills. Parents assured
their teens that they were capable
of not only passing the TAKS, but
going above last year’s
accomplishments. This can and will
happen again, possibly moving into
the “Exemplary” category. This can
only take place if teacher, parent,
and child are working together. If
you think your child is having
difficulties in school be sure to
contact the teacher.
Some parents feel that because their
child is in junior high, they do not
need to be as involved as when they
were in elementary school. However,
parents do need to be involved.
Parents can accomplish this by
discussing school information each
and every day, attending school
events, making sure that students
are in school, and joining parent
organizations such as PTO.
Our new assistant principal, Mr.
Barnett, and I are available for any
information about school which you
may need. We have several more new
faces on staff, which you will be
hearing about through newsletters
sent home with every progress report
and report card.
Last, I want to encourage
school-wide spirit by informing you
that Roustabout t-shirts are for
sale. Not only do they encourage
school pride, they are guaranteed to
be in dress code.
Let’s Have A Great Year!
