What is Dyslexia?
The word dyslexia is derived from the Greek “dys” meaning poor or inadequate and “lexia” meaning words or language.  Individuals with dyslexia often need special programs to learn to read, write, and spell.  Dyslexia is not a disease; it has no cure, however it is manageable.  It is not a result of inadequate intelligence.  It is not behavioral, psychological, social or motivational in its origin.  It is not a vision problem; people with dyslexia do not “see” backward.
