Important Dates you should know about:
PSAT – Test Date: October 15, 2008
The Preliminary SAT is a standardized test administered to high school juniors
and seniors each October. Tenth grade students are encouraged to take the test,
also. The PSAT has the same format as the SAT, and serves as a rough predictor
for SAT performance. PSAT scores from the junior year count toward National
Merit Scholarship. The cost is $13. See us for fee waivers if you qualify for
free or reduced lunch.
ASVAB – Test Date: December
2, 2008
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multiple choice
assessment test developed by the US Department of Defense. It has been provided
to high schools and post-secondary schools since 1968. The original use for the
test was to identify to students the best occupation match for a career in the
military. The ASVAB Program was recently redesigned to be helpful to all
students, whether future plans include employment after high school in civilian
or military occupations, or continued education. The test is given to all
juniors and there is no charge.
PLAN – Test Date: December 3, 2008
Why take PLAN? It is a great way to plan for the ACT. This test is
administered to sophomore students in the fall. It lets you know if you are on
track for college and points out academic strengths and areas you need to
improve. PLAN also helps you find careers that match your interests. You will
receive a guide with your results that explain your scores and how you can use
them to your advantage. The cost is $12.
