Texas Elks State Association 2005
Scholarship Awards Six scholarships will be awarded to 3 male and 3 female high school
graduates from the 2006 graduating class. These awards will be in
the amount of $1,250 per year for the 2007 through 2010 academic
years. Winners must attend an accredited junior college, or
university in the state of Texas. Students in the top 5% of their
graduating class are NOT eligible for this
award. Texas Elks State
Association Vocational Grant Program This program is open to any prospective
student regardless of gender, 18 years of older, planning to pursue an
eligible vocational/technical course, above and supplemental to high
school or preparatory school level. The Vocational Grants are in the
form of certificates issued by the office of the Texas Elks State
Association. Texas
Lyceum Leadership Award - The scholarship award is intended to
promote education and leadership within the great state of Texas, as well
as to reflect its diversity. Eligible candidates are high school
seniors planning on attending any accredited Texas College or University.
Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. 5 $2,000 scholarships will
be awarded for the school year 2006 - 2007. Texas Student Housing Scholarship Program
These $2500 per year scholarships for housing in our TSH off campus
facilities are renewable for up to four years to a maximum value of
$10,000. Scholarships are available to students who are accepted in
a Texas college or university in communities in which TSH owns facilities.
Incoming freshman may apply for scholarships in Austin, College Station
and Denton. Texas Society of
Professional Engineers Applicants must be
seniors planning a career in engineering and must enroll full-time in an
ABET accredited engineering program at a Texas university.
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic record, achievement,
leadership, and career
goals.
Texas Tech - Koh
Family Scholarships These are up to $10,000 per year and are for
students entering the Engineering program at Texas Tech. TFB Agriculture Research
and Education Foundation Applicant
must be graduating from high school in spring of 2007 and entering college
in the fall of 2007. Parents must have been Farm Bureau members at
least since March 14,
2005.
TFB Young Farmer & Rancher Scholarship
- Applicant must be a graduating High School senior, pursuing a degree in
agriculture and a member of a Farm Bureau family. The Dennis R. Edwards
Memorial Scholarship Fund To be eligible a
student must submit an essay describing the person who has been most
influential in his or her life. Applicants must be African American
residents of Brazoria County and be an active participant in church and
civic
activities.
The Regents Scholarship fund at Texas A
& M University This is designed to assist
first generation college students whose total family income is less than
$40,000 per year. Recipients will receive $5,000 per year for up to
four
years. The Texas Youth
Entrepreneur of the Year Awards - Scholarships for high school
entrepreneurs The Texas Telephone Association Scholarship 2 high school seniors will be invited to fill out this application. If you are interested in being considered, please come by the guidance office and add your name to the list before February 28.*** Toyota Community Scholars Program
Toyota is seeking a candidate who has an outstanding academic record, is
an effective leader and has a well documented record of service both
within and outside the school setting. One graduating senior may be
nominated for the scholarship. Scholarships are $10,000 or $20,000
renewable over 4 years.
University of Houston – Clear Lake
In
honor of African-American and Hispanic elders and their achievements,
University of Houston – Clear Lake offers 14 scholarships to community
college students and graduating seniors who intend to enroll in community
college fall
2003. University of Houston Legacy Scholarship
Program The
Legacy Scholarship Program encourages the children and grandchildren of
University of Houston Alumni to continue the family legacy and attend the
university. Six $4,000 legacy scholarships are available to incoming
Freshman in the Fall 2004
semester. University of
Houston and UTSA Terry Scholarship Students nominated must have an SAT
of 1300 and were ranked in the top 10% of their graduating class.
Last year's Terry Scholars received an average award of $13,750 for the
2006-2007 school year.
University of Texas at Dallas McDermott
Scholars Program The Eugene McDermott Scholars Program is
accepting nominations for Fall 2008
awards. University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA)
Presidential Honors Program Applicants should be ranked in the
top 20% of their high school class and should have an SAT of 1100 (V,M) or
an ACT of 24 or higher. USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships additional
information, including specific eligibility criteria for these awards, is
available on the USA Funds Website. USA/MAES Pre-engineering Scholarship
10 scholarships of $2,500 will be awarded. Student must be
intending to pursue a degree in engineering, technology, mathematics, or
science. Student must also have a GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale and have
taken SAT or ACT. USDA/1890 National Scholars Program in the
Agricultural, Food, and Natural Resource Sciences - This
program will provide full tuition, employment, employee benefits, fees,
books, use of a laptop, printer, and software while on scholarship and
room and board each year for 4 years to students pursuing a bachelor's
degree at specific universities. (see application for list of schools)
Student must have an SAT of 1500 or ACT of 21
Voice of Democracy
Given by the Veterans
of Foreign Wars and its Ladies Auxiliary. Eligible students include
9th through 12th. Local scholarships are for
$500 and $300. Additional scholarships are available to the
winner. The student must submit an audio essay 3-5 minutes
long. Wal-Mart Good Works
Each Wal-Mart
store and Sam’s Club will have the opportunity to award two $1,000
scholarships to high school seniors from the community in which they are
operating. This scholarship program is funded by the Wal-Mart /Sam’s
Club Foundation and is administered by Scholarship Program Administrators,
Inc. Selection of recipients is based on a combination of financial
need, academic record, ACT/SAT test scores, extracurricular activities,
community involvement and work
experience. Washington and Lee’s
Houston Scholarship This scholarship was established to
recognize a student who excels in the classroom and ranks at the top of
his or her class, yet is also a campus leader and a substantial
contributor to your school’s community. The student should submit
their essay application along with their admissions
application.
Wendy's High School Heisman Scholarship The student must be
entering their senior year of high school with at least a "B" grade
average and participate in at least one of the 32 sports officially
sanctioned by the National Federation of State High Schools. The
application is available online. Once you apply please notify the
counselor so your application can be verified. Wharton County Jr. College The recipients of
these scholarships are required to enroll in at least one activity class I
the fine arts area in which they receive a scholarship, sign up for a
minimum of twelve semester hours at WCJC, and maintain a 2.0
GPA. Wharton County Jr. College Alumni
Association The recipient of the scholarship must be attending
WCJC. The scholarship is in the amount of
$600. Winning Characteristics Scholarship from Making it Count - There
will be once national $5,000 and 5 regional, $1,000 one-time award
scholarships to high school seniors who have participated in the Making it
College and Career Count presentation between January 1, 2007 - June 15,
2007 and who can exhibit excellence based on the "Winning Characteristics"
highlighted in the program.
Young Women in Public Affairs scholarship
competition This year the Zonta Club of Houston will award a
$750 Scholarship to the senior woman who submits the best essay and
personal profile of her views on the advancement of status of
women worldwide, commitment to volunteerism, and leadership qualities. |
