Scholarship Foundation This year a minimum of 61 scholarships
will be distributed to meritorious students who may use the award to fund
their education at any accredited, post-secondary institution in the filed
of study of their choice. To qualify for a scholarship a student must
be a legal resident of the US and demonstrate academic ability. *Available: February Website: www.ecisf.org Deadline: May 15 Elder and Leemaur Publishers - awards 10,000 in
scholarships each calendar year. The average value of each scholarship
is $1,000 and is given to students that demonstrate the ability to formulate
a well-structured, convincing argument on topics of academic interest.

Elks National Foundation 2008 Most
Valuable Student Scholarship Competition
Any high school
senior who is a US citizen is eligible to apply. Students must complete a
350-word essay in addition to a parental financial statement. The
scholarship awards range from $60,000 to $4,000. Financial Service Centers of America, Inc.
National Scholarship Program Student must be a US citizen or
permanent resident. Financial need and academic achievement also
required.
First Choice
This
program is available to students who receive electric service from First
Choice Power at their home.
First
Freedom Student Competition This first semester
national essay contest offers 9th - 12th grade students an opportunity to
compete for a $3,000, $1,500 and $750 award, as they examine the First
Amendment and the history and relevance of religious freedom in America
and the world today. The essay will address the question, "Is the
constitutional protection of religious freedom as important today as it
was in the past?"
The Fountainhead Essay
Contest The student must write an essay on a specific topic
related to Ayn Rand's novel "The Fountainhead"
Gates Millennium
Scholars
Students need both a nominator and
recommender for this application and must be Pell Grant eligible to be
considered. You must also have a GPA of 3.3 or higher and
demonstrate leadership abilities. George and Mary Josephine Hamman
Foundation This year the foundation will offer 15 $1,000
scholarships to high school seniors. This scholarship is awarded based on financial need and
academic achievement. Each
applicant must provide a school transcript, verification of SAT or ACT
results, and parents’ or guardians’ most recent tax return. See the
website for an application. Graceland University Prestigious Honors
Scholarships are competitive awards established to attract
outstanding students to Graceland. Applicants must apply to
Graceland University and submit an official high school transcript, three
letter of recommendation and write an essay that represents their ability
to think clearly, think creatively, and write effectively. Guideposts Young Writers Contest Entrants must be high school juniors or seniors. You must write a first-person story (max of 1,200 words) telling about a memorable or moving experience you have had. Stories must be the true personal experience of the writer. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center
Scholarship This scholarship is available to high school
seniors in the gulf coast regional area. Students need a GPA of 3.0
and will submit an essay on 1 of 3 specific topics.
Harvard Tuition Announcement Harvard is offering free tuition for students
that have a family income below $40,000. The prestigious university
announced that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families
can go to Harvard for free... no tuition and no student loans. Healthcare and Nursing Education
Foundation To
be eligible for this scholarship the applicant must be a graduating senior
of 2003, have taken the SAT or ACT, and be anticipating entering a nursing
program. The Foundation offers academic scholarships to qualified students
who demonstrate the desire and ability to pursue a professional nursing
education in the greater Houston community.
Hispanic Heritage Youth
Award - The Hispanic Heritage Foundation was established 20 years
ago to celebrate and promote Hispanic pride, culture, accomplishment and
leadership through year-round national and regional educational and
inspirational programs.
Holocaust Remembrance Project The
Holocaust Remembrance Project is a national essay contest for high school
students that is designed to encourage and promote the study of the
Holocaust. Students can win all-expense-paid trips to Washington D.C., and
scholarships up to $5,000. Horatio Alger Scholarship seeks
to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in
overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial needs, a good
academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to
contribute to society. Houston Association of Hispanic Media
Professionals Applicants must be communication majors, of Hispanic
origin and graduating high school seniors or full-time students at a college
or university. Students must submit transcripts with the application,
and a heavy emphasis will be placed on an autobiographical essay and

Bottling Company
The Houston Coca
Cola bottling company is offering an essay contest; “How can youth of today
use education as a means of leaving an imprint on our society?” This
contest runs from Feb. 1 to Feb. 28. The grand prize-winner will receive a
$2,500 scholarship and a personal computer.
Houston Golf Association Junior Golf Scholarship Program - Two
20,000 scholarships to deservng applicants will be awarded. Student
must be planning enroll and a full time student and have participated in any
junior golf program. Houston Hispanic Forum
Scholarship Students must have a 'B' or better average, have unmet
financial need, participate in leadership activities, do volunteer work,
work part-time and intend to be enrolled as a full-time student college
student Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
Metropolitan Scholarship
One student from
our school will receive the four-year $12,000 Metropolitan Scholarship. To
be eligible to apply for this scholarship, an applicant must meet be in the
top quarter of their class, have SAT scores of at least 1350 (based on a
maximum 2400) or ACT at least
19, and planning to attend a college or university in the state of Texas. Essays must be
turned into the Guidance Office. A Scholarship committee will select
the top 8 essays to be submitted. Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
Opportunity Scholarship
The opportunity
scholarship is need-based in that 50% of the scoring is awarded for
financial need. An SAT score of 1210 (based on a max 2400) or ACT of
17 is required. Additionally, a student who receives an Opportunity
Scholarship cannot receive more than $40,000 in other scholarships. 100
Opportunity Scholarships valued at $15,000 each will be awarded. Imagine Commitment to
Agriculture Scholarship Program
Monsanto, in
collaboration with the National Association of Farm Broadcasters, has
renewed the annual commitment to Agriculture Scholarship Program to award
$150,000 in scholarships in 2004. One-time awards of $1,500 will be made to
100 high school seniors who come from a farm family and plan to pursue a
career in the field of agriculture. John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay
Contest - Grades 9-12 are eligible. In less than 1,000 words,
write an essay that is original, creative and demonstrates an understanding
of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in Profiles in
Courage. Submit essays online or regular mail. Come by the
guidance office for details. Johnson & Wales National Outstanding
Student Leader of the Year Winning students must enroll in a program of
study at J&W's College of Business, The Hospitality College, the School of
Technology or the School of Education. Junior Achievement National
scholarships presented through Junior Achievement are available only to
graduating high school seniors who have completed either JA Economics or JA
Company Program. To find out more about Junior Achievement and their
scholarship opportunities go to their website. Junior Achievement and the Albert P.
Beutel Scholarship This scholarship is for current juniors, the
graduating class of 2008. The essay that applicants are being asked to
write will be the most important aspect for determining the scholarship
winner. The essay topic is "Free Enterprise; Yesterday, Today and Me". It is the intention to have one scholarship awarded from each
public high school in Brazoria County, provided a minimum number of
students apply from each school. Junior Golf Scholarship The HGA awards
two $20,000 scholarships to deserving applicants each year. Applicants
golf ability is not a factor in awarding. Student must be planning to
enroll full time at a 2 or 4 year college or university and have
participated in a junior golf program. The Keppra Family Epilepsy
Scholarship Program - Student must be
an epilepsy patient or have a family member/caregiver who is an epilepsy
paitent. La Estrella Latina De Carl's Jr.
Scholarship Program Students must be under 21 and a high school
senior who plans to enroll for the first time in a full-time undergraduate
course of study at an accredited two or four-year college or university, or
vocational/technical school. Interested students must complete the
application and required essay. Up to 60 $1,000 scholarships will be
awarded. Lamar Academic Scholarship Program
These
scholarships, awarded to graduating high school seniors and transfer
students as well as students currently enrolled at Lamar University, range
in value from $500 to over $15,000. Awarding of academic scholarships is
primarily based upon academic achievement. Lamar University C.W.
Conn, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund Established for
entering freshman seeking a four-year degree in the College of Business.

Lamar University’s College of
Engineering Scholarship The criteria for selecting the scholarship
recipients are based on class standing (top 10 percent) and Scholastic
Aptitude Test scores (above 1100). The scholarships are available to
those planning to major in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics.
A total scholarship package of $26,200 for 4 years is being awarded. Lions of Texas MD-2 Youth Outreach
Contests There
are 2 separate contests. The Diabetes Awareness Essay Contest and The Drug
Awareness Speech Contest. Requirements for each essay can be found online.
Essays must be turned into the guidance office, three essays on each topic
will be chosen to present to the Lions Club on January 13th.
From those six essays two will move on to the finals. Mckelvey Foundation
Entrepreneurial Scholarship
Available to all high school seniors who
have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit by owning and operating their own
businesses while in high school. Micron Science and Technology Scholars
Program This program was established to recognize high school seniors
in the states of Idaho, Utah, Texas, Virginia and Colorado who have
demonstrated excellence in academics and leadership. Applicants must have
an SAT of 1350 or ACT of 30 and be pursuing a degree in Computer Science,
Physics, Chemistry, Material Sciences, or Engineering. Up to $253,000
in scholarships will be awarded. Mid-Coast Higher
Education Consortium Scholarship
These scholarships will be for full time students who major in Pharmacy
Technician Certification, Diesel Equipment Technology, or Environmental
Health and Safety Technology programs offered by Texas State Technical
College and Wharton County Junior College Miss Texas Teen America
Applications are being accepted for the 2004 Miss Texas Teen America
Pageant. You could win a $10,000 scholarship and a trip to Nashville.
This years event will take place in San Antonio, Texas, January 16 – 18.
Multicultural
Scholastic Award Program Applicant
must be attending the University of North Texas in the fall of 2003. National Art Honor Society Scholarships
Senior class member of the National Art Honor Society are eligible to
compete for tuition scholarships to The Art Institute. You must submit
6 slides of sic different original pieces of artwork representing your
creative ability and interest among other requirements. National Commission for Cooperative
Education Students must have a GPA of 3.5 or better, complete the
application and write a one-page typed essay describing why you have chosen
to pursue a college cooperative education program. National DAR Scholarships These are very specific scholarships in History, Nursing, and Medical fields. If you are interested, come by the guidance office and look at the individual requirements. NELNET - a free
college planning resource. A national scholarship drawing for a $1,000
scholarship every week, beginning in September and running through March.
Each winner is randomly selected. New
York University Martin Luther King, Jr., Scholars Program
This honors program is designed to recognize
students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, show
significant involvement in school and community activities, and also
exemplify the ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The scholars program
includes a scholarship of $10,000. Students must be

Scholars Awards
Any student entering their freshman year at an
accredited two-or-four year university, college, or vocational institute is
eligible. Scholarships are not based on financial need. Applicants must be
nominated by a dues paying member of NFBI. NFIB
