CHS Dress Code for 2007-2008
It will be the policy of

Pullover Sweaters/Pullover Sweatshirts
No
writing or embellishments are allowed outside of the logo area.

Dress and Grooming
1.
Any form of dress that
is attention getting, disruptive, or distracting to school activities shall not
be permitted. No hats, caps, bandanas, or other head coverings of any
type are to worn. Bandanas and
sweatbands are not permitted. Sunglasses
are not permitted unless prescription allows.
Heavy chains and spiked accessories are not permitted.
2.
Boys will not wear
anything in their ears (i.e. earrings, string loops, toothpicks, plastic
fillers, etc.). No student is allowed to
wear ornaments as a result of body piercing (except females may wear earrings). Oral jewelry is not permitted.
3.
Hair is to be of a
natural color, neatly trimmed and kept out of the eyes. Boys’ hairstyles shall not be worn below the
eyebrows in front nor below the bottom of the ear on the side and shall not
extend below the top of the shoulder in the back. Extreme hairstyles (e.g. Mohawks, spiked,
colored or dyed hair, etc.) that are distracting or are designed to be
conspicuous shall not be permitted. Boys
will be allowed to wear their hair in one nice and neat pony if it meets the
above criteria. Hair carvings and
designs are not permitted. Sideburns
cannot extend below the bottom of the earlobe.
4.
Boys will have a
clean-shaven face at all times.
5.
Distracting makeup will
not be permitted. Boys are not to
wear make-up. Writing on the body is not
permitted; tattoos must be covered.
6.
Medical modifications may be granted on an as
needed basis. Medical statements from a
physician are necessary and must state that the condition will be worsened by
following the dress code.
The District’s dress code is
established to teach grooming and hygiene, instill discipline, prevent
disruption, avoid safety hazards, and teach respect for authority.
The school prohibits any clothing
or grooming that in the principal’s and/or designee(s) judgment may reasonably be
expected to cause disruption of or interference with normal school
operations. The school prohibits
pictures, emblems, writings, or clothing that is lewd, offensive, vulgar, or
obscene. Additionally, any items that
advertise or depict tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, drugs, or any other
substance prohibited under policy FNCA(Local) are prohibited.
If the principal determines a
student is in violation of the dress code, the student shall be given an
explanation of the dress code policy and rules and shall be given the
opportunity to correct the problem at school.
If not corrected, the student shall be assigned to In-School Suspension
(ISS) for the remainder of the day or until the problem is corrected. Copies of any dress and grooming violations
will be mailed to the parent/guardian.
Repeated dress code offenses will
result in more serious disciplinary action such as:

In
School Suspension (ISS) Corporal
Punishment
The District prohibits any
clothing or grooming that in the principal's judgment may reasonably be
expected to cause disruption of or interference with normal school operations FNCA
(Local).
Any attire deemed distractive, lewd, offensive, or otherwise
inappropriate by school administrators will not be allowed.
