Get Important Updates on your cell phone

We have set up a SMS (Short Messaging Service) text Feed. When important info needs to be distributed, last minute changes arise, or important deadlines come up, we will broadcast a SMS Text Message to everyone "Following" our Feed with their cell phones.
Here are some examples of how we will use the new system.
    Marching Rehearsal has been cancelled due to weather.
    Reminder: Band Registration this Saturday.
    Buses will be late. Inspection time has changed to 5:00pm.
    It is 11:00pm and we are just leaving the stadium. Estimated return time to THS is now 11:45pm.
    We have arrived back at the band hall. Students is ready to be picked up.

How do I set up my cell phone?

1. Go to www.twitter.com and set up a free account.
2. Once you are logged in, click on "Turn on your mobile phone" or click on "settings" and then "mobile"
3. Follow the instructions to set up your phone. Once you send the text "start" to 40404 follow the text directions.
4. Once your phone is set up, go to www.Twitter.com/ColumbiaHSBand
5. Click the box that says "Follow"
6. Click on the box that says "Following - Device Updates Off" and change the selection to "on"
And you are all set! From now on you will receive Text Message Notifications from the CHS Band. If you want to stop receiving messages from the band, simply reply to any message with OFF.

Note: Check with your cell provider to make sure text messages are covered in your phone's service plan

"CHARMS" SOFTWARE

The CBISD bands are now using the "Charms" software to manage information on all band students and to provide information for parents of band students. You can see the calendar, financial records, forms to be turned in, trip information, inventory, all of your information. Please take a look and update your contact information....here's how:

1. Go to www.charmsoffice.com

2. Where it says "Parent/Student Login" for the school code put CBISDBands (You can just copy and paste this right in)

3. For "Student ID/Password" put in your school ID number. Your number is a 5 digit number beginning with 9. It should be the one you use for your lunch account. When you get logged in make sure you change your password so no one else except you and your parents can see your account. If you don't know your ID number, email me at randy.marble@cbisd.com and I will send it to you.

4. Once you are into the program, look around. I especially want you to go to "Student Info" and update your information for you and your parents. Make sure you click on the "update" button after you change information. Region Music will be under "Handouts."

We will be using this Charms software for band information this year. I can make assignments, post forms and music and mp3s, put up the calendar, and you can see how much money is in your accounts, and other things. Please check it often!
